With the technology development and enhance of people living standard, there are more diverse requirements for Lamps, dimming lamp is one of the factors in lamps purchase. How to choose the suitable one base on current regualr dimmable lamps?

1.FPC (Leading edge phase-cut ) Dimmable Lamps

Triac Dimming

The FPC (Triac)dimmable lamps which utilzing a thyristor circuit starting from the AC phase 0 and chopping the input voltage until the thyristor is turned on. That is to say, FPC Dimming according to the principle of a natural zero-off after turnning on the leading edge.

FPC Dimming

The FPC dimmable lamps technology (leading edge phase-cut dimming) is old and was extensive applied for incandescent Lamps with its simplicity and cheap cost. It is still at presence widely now. its biggest advantage is direct control by power cable without additional control wire lead to low installation cost.

But it encounters several major questions for lamps:

1.Must preplanning Triac dimming switch location for dimmable lamps project solution. One Triac dimmer only control one set of circuit and can not change to thyristor dimmable lamps when several sets of circuits controling by one control board.

2.The FPC dimmable lamps accompany with noisy sound.

3.The FPC dimmable lamps low brightness setting leads to flicker.

4.The FPC dimmable lamps need compatible test for suitable dimmer.

5.The FPC dimmable lamps performance in bad dimming range and smothness, only available in minimum 20% brightness for FPC dimmable lamps.

2.0-10V Dimmable Lamp

 0~10V Dimming Wiring diagram

There are two sets separate wires for 0-10V Dimmable lamps, one is high voltage wire for lamps and dimming controller, the other is low voltage wire with reference voltage indicating lamps dimming level of linear relationship that voltage range from 0v to 10v to control the dimmable lamps Luminous Flux. 0 voltage with minimum Luminous Flux and 10 voltage with maximum Luminous flux for dimmable lamps.

0~10v Dimming Brightness curve

0-10V dimmable lamp obvious disadvantages:

1.Need additional one set of wire for low voltagecircuit and enhance the requirements for dimmable lamps project.

2.High cost for dimmable lamps and their dimming controllers.

3.Dimmable lamps energy consumption for over long wire lead to inconsistent dimmable lamps brightness.

3.DALI Dimmable Lamp

DALI Dimming Wiring diagram

DALI dimmable Lamp is controled by digital signals. Each lamp with a related address can communicate directly with the luminaire modules and enabling single-lamp control. Max 64 lamps in 16 groups controling by a typical Dali dimmable Lamp controller with two independent circuits, one is a high voltage circuit, the other is a max 300 meters length line signal control circuit for Dali which can dim from 1% to 100%. Dali dimmable Lamp has the advantages of good stability and flexible control and its disadvantages as follows:

1. Additional set of control circuits required high requirement for led light project solution for Dali diming.

2. High costs for Dali system.

3. High power consumption for Dali dimming, even switching off the lights still occur to standby power consumption.

4.Bluetooth and 2.4 Wireless Dimmable Lamp

Wireless Dimming Wiring diagram

The biggest advantages of bluetooh and 2.4 wireless dimmable Lamp are easy installation, short construction period and flexible application. Because bluetooh and 2.4 wireless dimmable Lamp isn't limited to application so it is widely use for dimming renovation projects. Same as Dali system, 64 control points can be controled by a single bluetooth gateway with single lamp control for dimmalbe lamp. However, due to bluetooh and 2.4 wireless dimming originates from the 2.4G public frequency band, the reliability of lamp communication is easily interfered by other wireless signals. Multiple dimmalbe lamps working will lead to individual lamp fails to receive signals.

5.Mihouse Switchable Diammable Lamp

Switch Dimming

Though dimmable Lamp is practical, its wide popularization is limited to the installation site (inappropriate circuits), high price and other factors. Mihouse exclusive R&D switchable dimmable lamp let it come to true with its simple operation and switchable 100% and 10% brightness & power only by a common switch, additional external controller and control circuit are unneeded. It can be accmplished just replacing by Mihouse switchable dimmable lamps. Mihouse dimmable lamps are cost-effective and stable and multiple dimmalbe lamps can be controled at the same time.

Mihouse exclusive R&D switchable dimmable lamp are ideal for applications required simple feature and multiple dimmable lamps running together. Here are three scenarios:

Scenarios :Retail Shop

Retail shop dimming

100% or 10% brightness and power can be switchable by Mihouse switchable dimmable lamp for opening time or closing time for energy saving and better working ambience.

Scenarios :Office

office dimming

100% or 10% brightness and power can be switchable by Mihouse switchable dimmable lamp for working time or after work for eneygy saving and safety.
